OSLC SWOT's
(The following is a list of selected items from the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Strengths ("SWOT's") as developed by the OSLC congregation during 2008.)
Strengths:
- Pastoral Staff
- Worship Service opportunities
- Music Staff and programs
- Friendly, welcoming, and inviting
- Good location and visibility
- Dedicated and committed disciples
- Dedicated to helping people
- Strong youth ministry supported by congregation
Weaknesses:
- Age of facility
- Not handicap accessible
- Sound system needs updating
- Narthex is too small - need room to meet and greet
- Landlocked property
- Need more adult Sunday School rooms and meeting rooms
- Aging membership
- Lack of transportation bus / van
Opportunities:
- Heartsong Service
- 200 of our members have only limited involvement in the life of the congregation
- 85% of people in the community are not attached to a church
- Services on CD or PODcast through internet
- Positioned for new building expansion
- Communicate more effectively
- Combine activities with other churches
- Offer support groups
- Growing area
Threats:
- Loss of parking spaces upon widening of Sunset Drive
- Disruption of ingress or egress during widening process
- Age and population of members
- Non-demominational (Mega) churches
- Life styles - busy lives
- Nationwide demographics and changes
- Competition for our youth
- OSHA & TOSHA codes
